Apple Macintosh IIsi
In September 2009 I started to downsize this collection to a few items and then archived this section to its own subdomain at the start of October 2011.
Sharing features with the SE/30, LC series, and of course the II series the Macintosh IIsi was introduced in October 1990 as a less expensive, and thus less expandable, alternative to the IIci. As with the IIci the IIsi has onboard video but also had 1MB of RAM soldered to the logic board. Unlike the rest of the II series there is no built in NuBus slot but with an adapter the PDS can be converted into one.
Also the case for the IIsi is unique as it was designed specifically for this model but unlike all the other Macintosh case designs was never used again.
This system
I obtained this system at a local Swap Meet for $20 along with an Apple Extended Keyboard II and Apple Desktop Bus Mouse II that were my initial target. After seeing it had some form of ethernet I grabbed it as the seller seemed to want to get rid of it.
It was some time until I tested the unit but when I did I found that it didn't actually work. So I stripped the unit down and proceeded to try and determine what was wrong. The first fault I found was with the RAM so I took the opportunity to replace the 4x 1MB simms with 4x 4mb simms that I wasn't using. The next and final problem was a strange incompatability between the 80mb hard drive and the IIsi, however working on it again some time later it worked perfectly.
